FRENCH FRIES

French fries also called finger chips is a very popular snack or starter made from potatoes. The fried ones were perfect French fries and were more delicious than the baked ones. Be prepared to fry the potatoes twice: once to cook them so they fluff inside and again to get them crispy on the outside.  Serve hot with tomato ketchup.

INGREDIENTS:

Russet potato - 2
Oil for frying
Salt to taste

METHOD:

1. Scrub the potatoes under cold running water and peel the skin. Cut the potatoes lengthwise into long 1/2-inch thick batons (sticks).

2. Soak potatoes in a large bowl of water for about 30 minutes.

3. Pat dry thoroughly with paper towels.

4. Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan.

5. Add the potatoes in the hot oil for about 5 minutes, stirring and flipping the potatoes occasionally.

6. Remove potatoes from oil with a slotted spoon to drain on paper towel and to cool completely.

7. Fry the potatoes again until golden brown, 5 to 6 minutes and shake off excess oil.

8. Transfer them to a large serving bowl, and sprinkle generously with salt.
