Sapada Bhakshya is a sweet so rich with ghee and delicious with a combination of banana and milk that only a spoonful of serving after the pooja would make you feel its divinity. Satyanarayana Prasada is rava halwa which is prepared on the Satyanarayana pooja day as a naivedyam / offering to Lord Sri Satyanarayana Swamy. It is also called Sapada Bhakshya.
The Satyanarayan Puja, or Satyanarayana Vrata as it is commonly known, is an auspicious Hindu religious observance. A ritual that is performed by people on several major occasions like housewarming, marriage etc., and this puja can be done at home on any day regardless of reason. It is the first mentioned ritual in the Skanda Purana of Hindus. The Satyanarayan Puja is generally done on the day of Purnima, or Full Moon, which is believed to be really fortunate.
INGREDIENTS:
Sooji or Broken wheat sooji - 1/2 Cup
Sugar - 1 Cup
Ghee - 1/2 cup
Milk - 1 Cup
Cardamom Powder - 1/2 tsp
Raisins and Cashews
Banana - 1
METHOD:
1. Heat half of the ghee in a pan and fry cashews and raisins. Transfer it to a bowl.
2. Now add Semolina to the same pan and fry it until it gets a nice aroma.
3. Add milk and mix thoroughly to avoid the formation of lumps.
4. Cook for about 4 to 5 minutes till the milk gets evaporated properly.
5. Then add sugar, half of the banana and cardamom powder.
6. Add the remaining ghee in between and keep mixing for about 5 mins. Switch off the flame.
7. Finally add the fried cashews and raisins, the remaining half banana. Mix it.
8. Prasada is ready to offer to Sri Satyanarayana Swamy.
Moreover, it can be stored in the fridge for 3-4 days.
