PAZHAMPORI/ VAZHAKKAPPAM/ BANANA FRITTERS

Pazham Pori – Ethakappam is a popular and favorite snack of Keralites. Pazham Pori – Plantain fritters are made out of a special variety of plantain called "Nendrapazham". This snack is a common street item in Kerala and one of the fastest and hot selling snacks in trains. This snack is often fried in most of the homes and relished by all along with a cup of steaming tea or coffee. It’s also a very tasty, fast and easy to make.

INGREDIENTS:

Maida - 1 cup Rice flour - 1/2 tbsp Ripe Banana - 3 Sugar - 3 to 4 tbsp (as per ur taste) Salt - a pinch Oil - for frying Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp or one pinch yellow color (opt) Water - as required


METHOD:

1. In a bowl, mix maida, rice flour, sugar, salt, turmeric powder by adding water.
2. Mix them well with your hands to a medium consistency. 3. The batter should be thicker than dosa batter. 4. Peel and cut the banana into small sizes as per your choice or preferences. 5. Heat oil in medium flame. 6. Then dip each banana slice into the batter and carefully put it into the hot oil. 7. Fry both sides till it becomes crisp and light golden in colour.. 8. Transfer them to a kitchen tissue paper. Serve and enjoy your pazham pori with hot tea….....
