Cherupayar(green gram) curry is a popular traditional curry that perfectly go with puttu just like Kadala curry. This really makes a very lip smacking combo with puttu and pappadam. This curry can even be served with rice.
INGREDIENTS:
Cherupayar - 3/4 cup
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Green chili - 3 to 4
Salt to taste
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Red chili - 1
Curry leaves
METHOD:
1. Pressure cook the cherupayar/ green gram for 3 to 4 whistles.
2. Meanwhile in a blender, grind grated coconut, green chili and cumin seeds by adding little water.
3. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, urad dal and red chili.
4. When mustard seeds splutters, add curry leaves.
5. Add cooked cherupayar, turmeric powder, salt and grinded paste.
6. Add water as per your consistency.
7. Cook for another 5 mins in low flame and switch off the flame.
